About Formtorch

We build tools that get out of your way.

Formtorch is a form backend for developers. We handle form submissions, spam filtering, email notifications, and webhook delivery so you can focus on building the product, not the infrastructure behind a contact form.

Why we built this

Every web project needs a contact form. And every developer building one eventually runs into the same wall: you either write a backend API from scratch, stitch together a serverless function with email delivery and spam filtering, or you sign up for a form service that gives you 50 free submissions and then locks you out.

Formtorch started as an internal tool at BitForward, a software studio based in Canada. We were building marketing sites for clients and kept reinventing the same form backend for every project. The third time we built it, we decided to build it properly, once, and make it available to everyone.

The premise is simple: a form should work the same way whether you are building a Next.js app, a plain HTML site, a Webflow project, or an Astro landing page. One endpoint. No backend code. Submissions in a clean dashboard, spam filtered and ready to export.

We are a small team. We write the code, answer the support tickets, and use Formtorch on our own client projects. That keeps us honest about what works and what needs improving.

What we believe

These are the principles that drive every product decision we make.

Developer experience first

A form backend should take less than five minutes to set up and never require a backend developer. We obsess over the integration experience: clear endpoint URLs, sensible defaults, and documentation that gets you to a working form before you finish your coffee.

Honest pricing

We do not bait developers with a free tier that pauses on the 51st submission. Our Free plan includes 150 submissions per month because that is enough to run a real contact form on a real site. Paid plans scale with you, not against you.

Reliability before features

Every submission is written to durable storage before we return a success response. If a downstream service fails, your data is safe. We ship new features only when they do not compromise this guarantee.

Transparency about spam

TorchWarden shows you why a submission was flagged, not just that it was. You can see the spam score, the signals that triggered it, and decide whether to override. Black-box spam filtering that hides data from you is not something we will build.
